The Accidental Billion-Dollar Business

In 2012, a small company by the name Tiny Speck was trying to launch a massively ambitious multiplayer game. However they simply couldn’t attract enough players.
But during the development of the game, something unexpected happened. The company built an internal tool for programmers to communicate with each other and to keep track of progress on the development front.
When they needed a search option to go through old messages they weaved that in as well. Sharing files became a necessity. Had to add in a new feature. Eventually, as the game collapsed, a new powerful tool was taking shape right before their eyes.
They called it the "Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge”

Nickname: Slack

Within 8 months the company was valued at over a billion dollars.
