Lyft pledges 100% electric by 2030. Frankly, EVs are likely to cost 1/3 to 1/2 less per mile in 2030 than gas or diesel cars. So this just plain makes good business sense. (1/3)

Lyft's shift to electric also illustrates why ride-hailing platforms are likely to reduce carbon emissions and oil demand in the long term.
1. You can get people into Lyft's much faster than you can turn over the personal vehicle fleet (25 years!)
(2/3)
2. An electric vehicle deployed as a taxi / Lyft / Uber drives 4x as many miles in a year as a personally owned EV, displacing 4x the oil demand and 4x the carbon emissions.

Lyft / Uber have their haters. In the long term I see them as very positive for climate & bad for oil.
