Going down the VS #Xamarin/Android rabbit hole today to learn something new. In terms of dev machine setup, I am not impressed. 1/n
#AndroidSDK setup seemed to go ok, but died on emulator w/an error about HyperV support not compatible. I've read online says Win10 18362+ is compatible. I think I resolved the issue by enabling the "Windows Hypervisor Platform" in Windows features. 2/n
I went back to VS and added the Xamarin workload. It seemed to work but installed tools in a different location than Android Studio. Went into VS Tools.Options to set the path to the Android Studio location, VS recognized the change said I needed to repair its tools. 3/n
At this point Android Studio seems to only think I have the latest sdk (30) installed, but VS's Android SDK manager recognizes both Android 10(30) and Android 9(28). 4/n
Hmm, doing New->Project, VS lets me target Android9(28) but not 10?
New project created, and hit F5. Got prompted about the emulator being out of date, chose to re-install. That failed - could not load Mono.Posix
Can't seem to figure this one out - @LyalinDotCom ?
fyi - the Xamarin team believes its a known issue with VS 2019 16.7 Preview 2 that I'm using, and that its fixed in Preview 3. Will validate as soon as that comes out.
