"Today we have some good news," @NYCMayor says.

He said he woke up and the indicators were strong for another day.

"But based on the really good indicators we've seen today, and for days and days before that, I'm very comfortable now saying we will start Phase 2 on Monday"
"Get on your mark, get set, cuz here we go -- on Monday, we'll be ready to take a big step forward for our city."

For those keeping track: Mayor said yesterday he was being cautious and it wasn't Monday, then @NYGovCuomo said it was Monday.

But it's official: PHASE 2 * JUNE 22
PHASE 2 MEANS:

- indoor retail
- vehicle sales/leases/rentals
- outdoor dining
- barber shops & salons

At minimum, 150,000 people will return to their jobs, but it could be as high as 400,000, @NYCMayor says

Last night's storm was complicated in that climate change is making these events stronger and more frequent -- but there is plenty of basic governmental failure that makes things worse.

So we have @NYCMayor and others deferring only to climate change and not their own failings
On 183rd St. in Queens, a mother and son died when rushing water flooded their basement apartment. The foundation collapsed, making it harder for FDNY to rescue them, officials said.
Jennifer Mooklal lives across the street and said her home has flooded her entire life.

“For politicians and the governor to say that it’s global warming, it’s not global warming,” she said. “It’s a sewer issue that they don’t want to acknowledge.”

1.38% 7-day rolling average citywide

Problem is primarily in 9 Zip codes which is affecting the daily number, @NYCMayor says, which is OVER 3%.

It shows the city has to be on "high alert" to keep upticks down, he says

First question for @NYCMayor on @InsideCityHall is about the uptick in Covid-19 cases in certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. MAyor says there will be "a lot of close work with community organizations" to get people wearing masks, socially-distanced
.@NYCMayor says he spoke with community leaders in one neighborhood late Saturday, who he said were committed to getting more compliance
.@errollouis says there are 8 Zip codes in the city that are over the 3% threshold to close pubblic schools.

Mayor says it's 3% on a 7-day rolling standard that the city set as a standard. The city overall is 1.9% -- higher than it's been in the last weeks.

Q on how many teachers are needed, @NYCMayor says he's been meeting daily at the DOE "war room" to figure out staffing challenge for the city's schools.

Brian asked for specific number of teachers needed and teachers hired.

The mayor still doesn't give a specific # so far.
The mayor says he'll announce the final number when every seat is filled.

The DOE has seemed desperate reaching out to anyone who has ever reached out about subbing or working in an after school.

I got a sub license in 2008 and SubCentral at the DOE reached out to me!
