Jamming out on @roadtrip_fm has single-handedly changed my life. I use it for work, for fun, for everything. Here’s how 👇
Every morning, right after I wake up, I fire up the app and create a new room. This is my virtual office for the day. Anybody who needs to reach me just needs to hop on the app and join my room
For casual conversations and water cooler talk (and in general) I camp out in a public room. It really brings back the serendipity of physical offices. Have a quick question? Drop in and virtually tap me on the shoulder. Want to discuss something or just jam out? Hop in
For private meetings, I simply change the room to private. If we need visual aids (ie powerpoint), I simply change the room photo for each slide. You can even make a custom slide deck where the slides are made to fit the dimensions of the room photo
Really, I’m not kidding. Roadtrip is now my office. It’s not just mine either. An investment banker friend of mine pulled her entire bullpen onto this. I’ve heard of another startup transitioning over completely to using Roadtrip as a cloud office
Even though I use it as an office, that doesn’t mean it’s not fun at all. In fact, there are even more fun applications for Roadtrip than there are office applications. I probably spend an equal amount of time on each (pretty sure I’m an hourly active user at this point…)
You can use it for literally any type of group activity. Karaoke? Yes. Trivia? You bet. Exercise? Absolutely. Virtual slumber party? Why not? Virtual rave? Hell yea!
Exercising in particular is a fun one. I like to go running with friends (as long as they’re not too much faster or slower), and other friends like biking. It’s hard to synchronize music AND chat as you do either
Peloton has become super popular recently. The group dynamics and competition is adrenaline-inducing. But you can’t really interact with your friends outside of comparing scores. With Roadtrip, you can interact while exercising, even if your friend isn’t
Something I’m super excited for are “vibes.” These are going to be “themes” you can choose for your room. Want a disco setting? A disco ball will come down onto the screen. Karaoke? Lyrics will scroll in the background. Business? Presentation mode will let you display slides
Think of Roadtrip as the cloud equivalent of the basement from That 70s Show. You just gather around (virtually, of course) and hang out with your friends
Everyone is welcome on this app. It’s not just for tech bros. I’ve met people from all disciplines: art, acting, comedy, sports, business technology. Many of whom I’ve become familiar with just by virtue of constantly bumping into each other. Some halfway around the world
I’ve even had some extended convos with multiple A-list celebs! No name dropping though 🤫. Well, maybe one. @3lau’s come on and DJ’ed several sets. He even popped in one of my rooms and complemented my taste (ok fine, it was just one song), and gave me some recs
Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have predicted I would get to interact with some of the people I have. One of the coolest experiences was being in a room as a top tier investor (@mazzeo😘) walked other top tier investors through the app. Got to add my 2cents in as well😊
Definitely the most powerful thing about Roadtrip though, is the music. There is nothing that is as personal, yet as widely understood as music. @wolfejosh says if you listen to 20 of the same artists he does, he understands you without ever having met you. That’s powerful
It’s incredible how much music bonds people together. I’ve made friends with people over the music they’ve played in their rooms. In the future, I’ll be able to find new friends based on the time we’ve spent listening to the same music or the time we’ve spent in the same room
Don’t think of it as just a new sorting mechanism. Imagine how cool it would be if your phone contacts were sorted by how much time you interact with each person. This would be a big departure from the traditional sorting methods (last interacted with, alphabetical, etc)
Next up? Partnership with @tinder to help you find that musical soul mate 😂. I mean, identifying potential partners/friends through actual (not reported) music taste just makes so much sense

Kpop has been taking over the world. Roadtrip is made for #kpop fans. We’ve already got karaoke on the roadmap, but imagine voting and emoji wars between fan bases, or tipping and interacting with your favorite celebrities as they preview and get feedback on an unreleased song
I think one of the most underappreciated aspects of music is its ability to fill awkward silences. Every video call ever, like half the time is spent wondering if the last speaker is done, and who’s ok to speak next. Music solves this small, but super annoying, issue
Like actually. Awkward silences are annoying. But you know what’s more annoying? People interrupting your conversations. Thanks to awesome audio engineering, you’ll be able to converse with someone privately even within a room. A “whisper room” of sorts for only the two of you
Life is full of little pockets of time where you can’t really do anything. @Quibi tried to fill that space, but uh, hasn’t done super well. Hop on @tiktok_us and you won’t resurface for hours. Roadtrip’s music-based audio-focus gives you something to do (no hands necessary)
Have you ever been invited onstage to interact with an artist at a concert? I haven’t, but I’d imagine it’s one of the most memorable moments of your life. Roadtrip will give you that opportunity every single day
If you think it’ll just be artists, you’re sorely mistaken. Due to Roadtrip’s large reach, you could interact with anybody. It could be a comedian, a podcast host, an actor, a professional athlete, anyone. Or even better, you might find your soulmate
Mixing work and play in one place is usually not a good thing. But if it's in the cloud, I’m not as worried. In fact, if anything, I’m worried I’ll get completely consumed and actually become an hourly active user (h/t @balajis)

So far, I haven’t met anyone who hasn’t loved this platform. It’s definitely still buggy, but it’s got a lot of potential. @mazzeo is one of the most gifted storytellers I know, and @bhwags is an absolute monster. No other way to describe him
Especially since even though the poor guy probably gets, on average, 30-40 messages a day from me reporting bugs and requesting features, they’re able to fix and implement ~70% of the stuff within a week (the rest they tell me is on the roadmap so that I shut up 😂🙈)
Love is usually not a word I use to describe things, but I love Roadtrip. If you’d like to join the Roadies and start tripping, shoot me a DM and I’ll send you an invite.

Let’s trip!
