The dish is word salad, apparently.

This is such a breathtakingly ahistorical and reckless way of looking prejudice. People fight bigotry *because* they do not consent to being labelled inferior nor, crucially, for that label to be *acted upon* by those in power.
I know it's old news that Sullivan is a hypocrite who regularly bleats in the most tone-deaf way possible from his gilded sinecure. But this sort of wilful misunderstanding is too common. It makes it sound like prejudice is merely a matter of 'feelings,' not material reality.
When someone says they "feel unsafe," the veracity of that statement is checked by recourse to material conditions. Is there legitimate cause to be afraid? Oftentimes the answer is yes.
Expressions of bigotry create a climate where people lose jobs, experience physical abuse and harassment, lack equal access to certain spaces, et cetera. A lot of us *do* try to "buck up" and "overcome" bias. The point is we shouldn't *need to.*
The point is that similarly-situated people from more privileged backgrounds don't need to do all that extra uncompensated labour. That, too, is an inequity.
