Good morning from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I smiled and forgot you can’t see me in my mask. 🥴😭😭
Early morning pre-tape with @RepDLesko for @GMA.

(I’m double phoning today 😂😂😂)
.@rachelvscott will be live in a few minutes on @GMA. From Tulsa, Oklahoma.
It’s 6:55 am here. We are staying woke and alert by doing a lil dancing.

(With @rachelvscott or Two Step Scott as I’m now calling her)
Many restaurants in downtown Tulsa are closed and boarded up today. Several closed early Friday and won’t re-open til Monday.

For the few places that are open won’t have restrooms. ImageImage
For the team I got snow cones.

I present this portrait of three embeds holding snow cones. Image
Here outside the Trump rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma , face masks, hand sanitizer, social distance and lots of water. ImageImageImageImage
And temperature checks. Just to enter press area we all had to be screened.
Here in Tulsa, Oklahoma over the past four days I’ve seen and heard a lot....

Here are a few of my experiences and observations.
People don’t wear masks in Oklahoma.

Regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, political affiliations.

Unlike protests in DC the majority of people wear masks, they are handed out, left and right. Here I’ve seen masks offered but many do not take them.
The racial divide in the country is spotlighted tonight in Tulsa.

Outrage over the president’s rally here is also met by outrage over the protests ripping across the nation.
In Greenwood, which is known as Black Wall Street, Black people I’ve spoken to (Dems and Republican) are upset that very few Black Owned Businesses exist in this particular historic, community.

Home to the single worst incident of racial violence in American history. #Tulsa
Many Trump supporters I spoke to this week. Black, White, POC we’re hoping to hear a message of unity from the President. Many were hoping his remarks would appeal to Black and POC voters.

However not everyone wanted to hear a message specifically on racial divisions.
.@rachelvscott and I had just wrapped an series of inteviews and as we walked back to our car, a black pickup truck rolled down their windows — white teenagers looked at us shouting “stupid black bitches.”
It came ten minutes after a Trump supporter told us he didn’t believe people of color in this country are treated differently — calling the ”Black Lives Matter” movement racist.
“It’s racist, it’s actually racist. To say that black lives matter more than other life is racist. It’s a racist way to believe,” Murray Betesh told us.
Less than a mile away, from where we were called “stupid Black bitches” the words Black Lives Matter are painted in bold yellow letters on the street in Black Wall Street. Black residents there say they are still crying out for equality.
Ask any Black person the first time they were singled out because of their color or called the N word.

They all know that exact moment and have a story to tell. It’s an uncomfortable thing that is a shared experience for our community.
So if you saw the post earlier where I got snow cones for @rachelvscott and our it was to lighten the mood.

Cause you gotta always find light. Hope. Joy. Inspiration. During some of the heaviest moments.
A moment that brought me pure joy today was seeing @abbydphillip and @rachelvscott doing side-by-side live shots while covering @realDonaldTrump in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

From our Liveshot location we could watch Trump on Jumbotron. ImageImageImageImage
So update: When I left a while ago the cases of Hand Sanitizer at the BOK center outside of the Trump rally in Tulsa was still around in big supply. I was told they had so much extra that several police officers/NG took a case.

I saw several supporters grab a box too. ImageImage
