A young lawyers life thread
Firstly before I move on further i woulf like to thank @HNiaziii @WomenInLawPk @NidaUsmanCh and all the others who raised their voice because for the first time we feel represented. It's been a year in this profession and a difficult one at that

I have worked at round about three firms by now only being able to get paid at one that too due to a project but the respect I have for that employer is simply on the basis that he told me when it ended that he didnt have the money to pay me and I should look further which is

One of the best things one can do, to be HONEST. Dont make us work from 8 Am - 11Pm with out food or well one office lunch for 6 days a week and then say we are not a benefit to you and dont deserve pay. Research and going through numerous amounts of docs is LABOUR.
3
But why pay is needed well firstly I used to travel from Thokar everyday to court and office I come from a privileged house that I could do this but in b/w we hit financial issues and I was doing two extra jobs just so I could justify my PRIMARY LAW JOB.
4
Also employers when I have told them times are tough and I need some compensation at least the bare minimum fuel. I hv been told you drive a city so parents are rich you must get pocket money. This creates two issues
1st I told you times are tough
2nd that means then that only

In the system the most privileged can make a career which cuts out most local lawyers. Trust me I have seen local law graduates out of city ones to skip on food so they can afford a dhobi and rent so they look PRESENTABLE for office bc you get called out if you dont

If my parents gave me a "city" it's to come to YOUR office they paid for a expensive degree. Where I knew I had to work harder bcs we studied external. So I would participate in moot courts for advocacy and research skills, would better my urdu reading so that I'm not a

Burden on a firm and pull my weight. While I write this I was extremely worried about being ostracized for this by future employers but this needs to be said.
As @HNiaziii pointed out experience doesnt pay the Bill's. Give us pay for our merit of work bcs that's why you hired

us. We understand that you had to do the same but since inflation has changed the economy isnt it on you to bring that change as well rather than continuing the STATUS QUO also dont create a culture where the most affluent can stick it out or they have to do more jobs to just

Be able to work at yours. Or they have to skip out on food to be able to wear a clean uniform for work. We arent asking for much even but 8K a month isnt justified, a lunch everyday is not compensation, me driving a car doesnt mean I not get paid and this is just me sharing I

Have seniors who have gone through this and encourage them to speak out. WE ARE NOT FREE LABOUR our profession fights against that in Labour law. The system should not benefit a specific class that straightforward H Rights law.
BREAK THE STATUS QUO PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES
It's

Very sad that its come to this but atleast MINIMUM WAGE what will that do it will only motivate us further to put in more effort at work. If we arent providing any benefit then dont keep us bcs kids like me and a lot of us genuinely want to make your lives easier by being your

Juniors. But pay us atleast it's not asking much
We are losing out on amazing individuals just for this sole reason because they want to justify they money that their parents spent bcs education is EXPENSIVE now that they leave the profession and do other jobs
#BETHECHANGE
There are benefits you gain from paying employees. They are more motivated to work because they are not burned out from other jobs also they will work to bring you clients then. No one is asking for exorbitant amounts of pay just enough to survive and continue working
@EmadAnsariH I read most of your threads about how daunting the profession is and it helped me being a young lawyer pen this out thread out. I dont know how much of the system I can change but maybe you being a teacher can use this as a first hand account for new entrants
