So after a brief break from our revolutionary Kantar via the medium of animated gifs. We are back:
Sales growth fro the market was up to 18.9% from 17.2% for 4 weeks to 14th June.
Online sales continue to accelerate and this naturally feeds in to the top number.
Alongside convenience which again, at times of challenge (like the recession) does well... £1.6bn through the tills in convenience operators during this 4 week period.
However as some things go up, others go down.

A mighty drop in food to go, with sales down 1/3 in early June.

Of course, as lockdown starts to ease, this will help matters in this category.

(there are some asterisks in this data and a mention of £347m but not included).
So I don't fully understand that yet, but the asterisks are explained at the bottom, so as I go through the release, we will get there.
So Online

+91% over the 4 weeks.
Huge increase in slots and click/collect.
Nearly 1 in 5 households bought via the internet in the month to mid-June.
5.7m shoppers total.
Ocado highest market share 1.7% (growth +42.2%)
Convenience sales accounted for 14.7% of all sales in the past 4 weeks.

But back from the peak of in April of +16.3%.
Independents at +69.3%
Over the past 12 weeks, The Co-op have seen sales rise by +34.5%.

(this data today is 4 weeks but Fraser McKevitt / Kantar often chuck in a 12-week number, almost to see who is reading carefully....)
Coop market share is now 7.4% which is the highest since March 2001.

Which is more remarkable when you consider they acquired Somerfield in 2008 but didn't reach this number (albeit due to disposals/refits and a failing core business etc etc).
Customers shopping less than last year (reflecting lockdown) but 19m more trips than May - again, reflecting lockdown being eased.

Spend is +42% versus June 2019 at £26.37 a basket.
Alcohol +43%
Early Summer weather meant Ice Cream +57%. Burgers +44% and Sausages +40%.
54% of people said they felt safe (which is a low number) when shopping, but the fact people are even asked, shows what different times we live in.

Loose foods were down 6%
2/3 of people are worried about the economic outlook for the rest of 2020.
With budget own label coming to the fore versus branded, or premium lines for furloughed workers.
Ok so here we go - here we go.
Tesco +12.1%
Sainsbury's +10.2%
Asda +6.3%
Morrisons +10.5%
Aldi +8%
Lidl +14.3%
Co-Op +34.5%.
Iceland +31.4%
Waitrose +8.6%
Ocado +42.2%
Inflation stands at 4%

Rising fastest in Bacon, Sausages and Cooked Meats.

Falls in Bread, Poultry and Eggs.
The asterisks were linked to a survey re: out of home / FTG and the like, hence the number is an estimate etc. It's related to where food is consumed that is not part of a 'take-home' grocery shop.

IE the idiot sandwich is an 'out of home' purchase.
A reminder about me, for you all.
