@BrianSpegele After Trump won in 2016 David Tian Wang, a China-born green card holder, was approached by China's L.A. consulate. He registered a lobbying firm, donated $150K for Trump's reelection and argued U.S. deployments to the South China Sea were a waste of money.

@BrianSpegele Wang attended an invite-only RNC leadership meeting in 2017. One of the men he brought along was a researcher for China’s Ministry of Science and Technology focused on national security and tech diplomacy. The RNC has now barred them from future events.

@BrianSpegele Another of the men at the RNC meeting was Tang Ben, a naturalized U.S. citizen who donated $300K to Trump and met the president at his hotel in D.C. in 2017. “If the Chinese people wish to overtake the U.S., they must study the U.S.,” Tang later posted.
