Thread on #analogy and its importance for the #productdesign field
If you're a ux designer there is 99% chance you've seen this image! Image
This image is not just impactful and funny, but it can easily explain a very complex idea in a simple way, to people who might not have the same degree of knowledge you have about a certain topic.
Because it uses analogy!
There are many types of analogies. Image
For our field, analogies can help us describe the comparison of our field to others (Synonym), so you can sell yourself better within a organisation... ImageImageImage
They can help you explain what your work consists of (part to whole)... ImageImage
Your working process and how you will achieve your goals (cause and effect)... ImageImageImage
Or even show the before and after of a product, the past and future (antonym)... Image
Another interesting way I found, really simple and for animal lovers... is by doing "animalogy". Using animal behaviours to explain a concept. *it's my favourite*

Please share with me any form of analogy you recently used to explain a feature, user flow, etc during your work 👋
