When considering the flaws in spike protein vaccine development, and that @BARDA has shelled out >$2Bn to just five companies developing spike protein vaccines, it almost seems like no one wants to fund preventative or effective therapeutic approaches to this virus. Why is that?

@Ligandal's approach is in the "Pre-exposure and Post-exposure Prophylaxis" medical countermeasures category and we were rejected twice, and never received a phone call after registering for a techwatch meeting with @BARDA, despite being a DoD @DefenseDep_FPS cleared contractor.
There is no rhyme or reason to this beyond the potential to repeatedly administer drugs such as remdesivir and antibody therapies, as well as vaccines that are likely to not yield long-term immunity, likely being a better revenue generator. There, I said it. This is criminal.
Y'all printed out a few trillion dollars. There is enough money and there are enough technologies out there that could cure this virus and prevent it efficaciously. Instead, we're just lining the pockets of lackluster approaches and pharmaceutical companies that can't innovate.

When further coupled to the White House's attempts to suppress testing availability, news of neurological complications and, seemingly, prophylactics dating back to early April (when I was in communication with a sr. WH coronavirus taskforce advisor), something seems off.
This is murder.
The USA has had the capability to import 500,000+ serological test kits per day dating back to late February / early March. Instead, these kits got sent back by customs. We knew human-to-human transmission was at play and we knew how infectious this was.

When you couple these findings to the lack of PPE availability, politicization of mask-wearing, doctors and medical staff at Stanford and other leading hospitals getting FINED for wearing N95 masks in March because there weren't enough masks for all hospital workers...
...you really have to start wondering what's up. We will look back on these times similarly to the Holocaust in terms of the violations of rights to human bodily integrity and health, as well as the spiraling into violations of our civil liberties.
Also, the SARS-CoV-2 research was done in collaboration between the USA and China. To say that we didn't know what this was when it appeared in December is to outright lie about biological research that we knew was happening. We knew what SARS-CoV-1 did in 2003.
In the course of building @Ligandal, I've seen attempts to suppress, hold back, and interfere in the development of life-saving gene therapies. The more we tried to push beyond the status quo (for example in vivo immunotherapies versus ex vivo cell therapies), the more pushback.
I always doubted what I was experiencing, because it was so isolated and I figured that people just don't care about diseases until they have them. I saw financial greed and how larger companies try to chew up smaller ones. I have NEVER seen anything like what is going on now.
At times like these, silence is deadly. I've avoided calling everything out for what it is for fear of repercussions, interference in government grants and contracts, and at times fear for my life. I'm not going to be silent about this as millions of people die.
