Racists sicken me. All of us – and our government – must make it clear that Scotland is no place for them. Immigrants and refugees should be welcomed in Scotland. Their addition to our country can only enrich. 
Let me be clear. Scotland is one of the most prosperous countries in the world. It became so largely from its role as part of the nation that created and ran the world's largest empire.
That empire, the British Empire, in 1923 spanned a quarter of the world and its population. A QUARTER OF THE WHOLE WORLD. It's almost impossible to comprehend.
Britain sucked the wealth from that empire, in some places for centuries. The wealth and prosperity of the UK is built on that. It's built on the looting, exploitation and piracy of empire.
If you can't find the basic humanity to simply welcome the poor and suffering to our rich country, you might want to reflect on the despicable nature of our prosperity and to whom we owe it.
Let me graphically remind you of the shocking size of the British Empire. (And note that 1922 was actually its largest extent.)
Q: And how did that empire get so large?
A: War. Lots and lots of war.

So lets not get all high and mighty about letting 'foreigners' into our country, because it's largely built on their blood.
