God this is really good, and solidifies a lot of my feelings about the Monkey Island "series," about how letting it continue after it's said what it has to say just turns it into self-referential nothing.
It's like how Fallout had its cold war scare anti-nostalgia message at first, and now it's a franchise where all it's about is itself, just a cartoon boy and old timey music and bombs.
Howard the Duck is like this too. Mainstream 70s comic where an author reflects his own alienation and disgust with the commercial world by portraying himself as an absurd duck in the Marvel universe, now the character is just a bad movie and the butt of jokes.

I forgot to close all the tabs when I was looking at Mercado Livre (Brazilian eBay) for weird NES games so idk let's have a thread.

Here's a nice complete in box copy of Silent Assault, distributed there by Milmar. This was licensed from Sachen in Taiwan, and uses their box art.
"Circus Chablie" is a very common misspelling of Circus Charlie on bootleg cartridges, and has become the game's canonical title for me. There is some genuinely great stuff in here, it's given me an excuse to catch up on some smaller games I missed out on. I've re-discovered my love of heartfelt adventures that you can finish in one 2-3 hour sitting. Some recommendations here:
The more I think about it the more I think A Short Hike might be a perfect video game. Really great movement, great dialogue, no real fail states, play at your own pace, full of kindness and hope, and finishable in one sitting. It's in there! Go get it, treat yourself tonight.
