What is cholesterol?
Cholesterol (aka cholesterol) is an organic compound, the most important component of lipid metabolism. Cholesterol is part of all human tissues, it is the basis of cell membranes and is involved in the metabolism of fat-soluble vitamins.
Cholesterol, which is applied to the skin, is extremely beneficial and does not affect blood cholesterol. As part of skin care products, it acts as an emollient and moisturizer. The list of ingredients may also appear as lanolin extract.
How does cholesterol work?
Cholesterol muscle-markets.com/category/?cate… and its esters are located in the epidermis and are components of the protective barrier of the skin.
Cholesterol, together with ceramides and fatty acids, are constituents of intercellular lipids located between the horny scales of the epidermis. How does cholesterol affect the skin?
Such signs as dryness, lethargy, dullness appear on the skin with a broken protective barrier, and wrinkles become more pronounced.
Cholesterol helps restore the protective barrier of the skin, which restores its ability to retain moisture and, as a result, the skin becomes smoother. With age, the amount of lipids in the skin becomes less.
However, skin can suffer from a lack of essential lipids at any age: cholesterol can be washed out of the skin when using aggressive cleansers, frequent use of exfoliants and intensive cleansing cosmetic procedures.
