Here are some statistics about NY's nursing home death toll that Cuomo chooses not to cite (bearing in mind that the official number is an undercount):

In terms of total deaths, NY is No. 2 behind NJ. nytimes.com/interactive/20…
In terms of nursing home deaths per 100,000 population, New York ranks approximately sixth.

About 6% of NY's nursing home patients have died (based on 2017 patient counts), which ranks 7th.
Again, NY is under-counting its nursing home deaths, because it leaves out residents who were admitted to hospitals before they died. (Something no other state does, as far as I can tell.)

If the state counted those deaths, it would undoubtedly rank much worse.
