Nowadsys few thousands people walk through sant Dnyaneshwar and sant Tukaram palakhi but this pilgrimage was there even before the birth of Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram.
Sant Dnyaneshwar's father, Vitthalpant used to bring his children to Pandharpur with wari.

It is well defined and minute details are made available including starting location, the location of breaks including lunch, rest, night stay location.

Every morning, early dawn, after worshiping the Sanits footwear, the palkhi sets out at 6am. A Tutari (wind instrument) is blown thrice to alert all Warkaris.

At the first signal, all Warkaris get ready to leave. At the second signal, the dindis stand in the queue as per designated sequence and at the third signal, they starts walking. After 4 to 5 km, they take a quick break for breakfast.
(14/21)
The person who walks through Pandharichi Wari is called as Varkari and all these Varkaris together form popular varkari cult in Maharashtra.

pandharpur Sant Namdev praises Pandhari (Pandharpur) by saying,
(15/21)

Meaning : Pandhari was there even before Vaikunth.

To describe river passes through pandharpur named Chandrabhaga, he mentions,
(16/21)
Sant Dnyaneshwar mentioned about Wari in one of his abhang as,
(17/21)
Further Sant Namdev mentioned about Ashadhi Wari and Kartik Wari in prayer of pandharpur vitthal as,
(18/21)
Many thousands people participates in this auspecious event of pilgrimage.
Also they pray to pandharpur vitthal not to let people miss this pilgrimage (wari) due to any reason.
(19/21)
During this pilgrimage Wari event, people considers each other as some kind of saint or pandharpur and they treat each other likewise.
Hence this wari is on eof the best event to re-establish and flourish humanity among people of varkari sampraday.
(20/21)
Pandharpur Wari plays great role to bind people with each other during this auspecious event.
