When military action was initiated against Bugti, he fled to Kohlu rugged mountains along with Barmadagh Bugti (grandson) and Balach Marri (BLA co-founder).

..and they had no way out. The cave was already booby-trapped when Army contingent (led by Col) went into the cave for negotiation.
Sensing no way out, Balach Marri's men blew the booby-trap while Balach Marri was standing just outside the cave at the time.

The roof of the cave collapsed and Bugti was killed along with 1 Colonel, 2 majors, 3 captains & 21 security forces personal were martyred. The majority of them were from SSG.
