Tisby: white Christians will say discussing systemic racism is "liberal" or a "Marxist ideology underlies" it all.
"They will say racists don't represent the REAL American church [or] that discussing race is 'abandoning the gospel' with a problematic demand for social justice."
Tisby: "These arguments...were used throughout American church history to deny or defend racism.
You may grapple with learning a narrative that contradicts much of what you have been taught...ideas about people who were cast as heroes of the faith.
The pain is worth the price."

This is why we need Red Flag laws, as @DavidAFrench stated last week. Someone charged with domestic abuse or stalking should not have access to a gun & should at least temporarily lose right to have one. frenchpress.thedispatch.com/p/pass-and-enf…
Man had a restraining order against against him and he *still* able to buy 9mm ammunition moments before he killed 2 innocent young women.
Jonathan Lee Whitlatch was *also* arrested for intent to commit sexual abuse last October, for sticking his hand down a woman’s pants (caught on security cam) at Cedar Falls bar. wcfcourier.com/news/local/cri…
Here in Iowa, a quick lesson on bad (politicized) public policy and the law of unintended consequences:
Kim Reynolds and the Iowa GOP hated mask mandates so much that they rushed through a midnight bill (*on a school night!*) to ban mask rules in any Iowa K-12 public school.
1/
Many Iowa GOP leaders have vocally opposed *any* mask mandate, even if put in place by private companies or churches to protect people. But they did NOT have the power to intrude on and ban those private rules.
So how did a K-12 mask ban affect Iowa's many private colleges?
2/
Well, it didn't *directly* But…
Along with that ban on K-12 mask mandates, Reynolds signed a "vaccine passport" ban. That law essentially punishes (by threatening loss of all state grant $) any Iowa business that asks customers to provide a proof of COVID vaccination.

"Rayshard Brooks was cooperative...a [pat-down] yielded no weapon."
"Once Brooks was shot...for 2 minutes, 12 seconds there is NO medical attention. What we discovered is during [that time] Rolfe actually kicked Brooks while he was fighting for his life."
US Sup Ct case TN v. Garner says "when an officer is pursuing a fleeing suspect, the officer may NOT use deadly force to prevent an escape unless the officer has probable cause to believe the suspect poses an immediate threat of death, or serious physical injury to that officer."
Fulton County DA: we find that "Brooks did not pose an immediate threat [as he fled]. The prongs of [Brooks'] taser cable were fired ABOVE officer Rolfe.
The instant the shot was fired at Brooks...he was running away. He was shot twice in the back...a shot penetrated his heart."
Expect to hear more on "the Great Replacement." The white supremacist theory bemoans low white birth rates leading to cultural 'replacement' by non-whites (Muslims, Jews, Hispanics, etc).
