MYSTERY MAN

Who is this man and what role did he play in Spygate?

<a thread>
2\

In a previous thread, I discussed a private investigation into the possibility that a foreign entity had hacked Hillary Clinton’s private server.

Documents from that investigation were turned over to the FBI in June 2016.

3\

The private investigation was conducted by a defense contractor named Donald Berlin.

4\

Finding Information about Berlin and his firm Investigative Consultants Inc (ICI) is not easy.

The only significant source I found are documents related to a lawsuit.
5\

5\

In 2018, Berlin was sued for libel by Chistopher Chandler, a “New Zealand-born, Maltese billionaire and founder of Dubai-based investment company Legatum.”
6\

In 2017, it was revealed that Chandler’s Legatum Institute was associated with pro-Brexit British cabinet ministers.
7\

Perhaps not coincidentally, around this same time, a dossier began circulating among British reporters that claimed Chandler and his brother were involved in money laundering, organised crime and Russian espionage.

8\

The dossier, it turns out, contained intelligence that was the result of an investigation conducted 15 years previous by Donald Berlin.
9\

Now here’s where it keeps complicated, so stay with him.

In 2002, Prince Albert of Monaco was growing concerned about some shady figures within his domain and he wanted to clean up the corruption.
10\

Prince Albert tapped an American named Robert Eringer to be his personal intelligence advisor.

Agent 001 😂
11\

Enringer is quite a character: novelist, private spy, gonzo reporter, FBI informant, world traveler, heavy drinker.
12\

Eringer claims he worked covertly with FBI Counterintelligence to lure a former CIA case officer, Edward Lee Howard, back to the US after he had defected to the Soviet Union.

He published a book on his experience in 2008.
13\

Eringer found the Chandler brothers suspicious because they owned property in Monte Carlo but were seldom seen there.

He suspected they were laundering money for Russian organized crime, so he placed them under surveillance
14\

To run a background check on the Chandlers, Eringer hired another private investigator, Donald Berlin.

Berlin supposedly had “special sources with a proven ability to access the Russian SVR [foreign intelligence]’s registry.”
15\

Berlin’s report was completed in 2004 and never saw the light of day….until Eringer sent portions of the report to British media in late 2017.

Why Eringer released his dossier or at whose behest isn’t clear.
16\

Eringer had a falling out with Prince Albert. Both men have sued each other numerous times (Eringer has been involved in A LOT of lawsuits).

He made some rather wild accusations.
independent.co.uk/news/world/ame…
17\

Eringer claimed to have set up a meeting between Prince Albert and former FBI Director Robert Mueller.
18\

On Sept 11, 2018, Berlin received a letter notifying him he was being sued by Christopher Chandler.

He was accused of fabricating the intelligence that ended in Eringer’s dossier with the intent of hustling Prince Albert for more money.
19\

Let’s take a look at more of the allegations in the lawsuit. Obviously, this is from Chandler’s point of view, so keep that mind.

The lawsuit refers to Berlin’s report as a “Pitch” to entice Prince Albert to further finance his investigation.
20\

Despite his claims of having extensive Russia contacts, the lawsuit claims Berlin actually had no sources at all.
21\

Berlin simply lifted portions of a report he had created for a previous client involving Gazprom and changed the details to fit the Chandlers.
22\

In other parts of his report, Berlin took old news articles and inserted the Chandlers into the story and then passed it off as intelligence.
23\

The suit charges that the press published stories based on Berlin’s false reporting claiming the Chandlers had illicit ties to Russia.
24\

There are other assertions in the lawsuit made about Berlin’s shady past. I verified one of them.

25\

(Yes, that is a mugshot in the first tweet in this thread, so Berlin has been arrested at least once).
26\

Berlin refused to sign an agreement that his report was fictitious to avoid a lawsuit and so the Chandlers went forward and sued him.

As far as I can tell, the suit is still unresolved.
27\

Now let’s turn to June 5th, 2016, when Donald Berlin took the results of his investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private server to the FBI.

(h/t @walkafyre for great work filling in the redactions)
28\

What stands out as similar between the two reports is that both are a pitch for more financing further investigations.
29\

Was Berlin hustling Ledeen and Judicial Watch
30\

Berlin’s company (ICI) was paid $32,000 by Judicial Watch. ICI paid the investigator who searched the Dark Web for evidence of Blumenthal and HRC’s emails $2,500.
31\

How Berlin used the remaining $29,500 is not clear. Was Berlin working a scam? It’s certainly possible.

At the same time, his stated reason for turning the results over the FBI was because he thought he may have discovered classified material
32\

One of the great mysteries of Spygate is how serious the FBI took Berlin’s report.

A report that suggests the possibility that the Russians had accessed Hillary’s private server.

realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2019/…
33\

Did the FBI put any weight in the report of someone who, allegedly, just made up intelligence on Russian clandestine activities?
34\

Even if the FBI dismissed Berlin as unreliable, his report is still important because it alerted the FBI that Clinton’s political enemies were searching for her deleted emails. (I think it’s fair to call Tom Fitton one of Hillary’s political enemies lol)
35\

I know a lot of people will say, “everyone was looking for her emails.” Of course, few however documented their investigation with the FBI.
36\

So that’s all I have on Donald Berlin. Believe it or not, there’s someone even more sketchy than him that I hope to thread about in the near future.
37\

So much disinformation out there from grifters, intelligence agencies and “journalists,” discovering the truth is not easy.

A word of advice: be skeptical of someone telling you what you want to hear
38\

Addendum: the Chandlers are far from above suspicion. Read this excellent thread on them and their institute, much better than anything you’ll find in the MSM.
