2018 was the worst yet the most enlightening year of my life. On March 29, I lost my job. This was then followed by a series of "bad luck" accompanied by a pity party that lasted for about 7 months before I decided to do something about it.
This thread is dedicated to
1. Those that have lost jobs, are still looking and still nothing is happening
2. Those that have graduated college and no job is in sight
3. Those that have something they love doing but are not monetizing their gift/talent.
An opportunity presented itself in 2018 October in Meru and since the last 7 months were terrible, I was so ready to just leave Kiambi and start a fresh! Have you ever been so broke that even 10 bob is a problem? I got from 100 to 0 pretty quick. Employment is scam😩
So, I went to interview for an insurance broker job, On my way to the interview I was telling God I am ready for even 10k per month, I'll figure out how to manage. 😩 I got the job, but it was on commission terms😭😭😭 I was like, Sawa, let me try.
I had to attend training et al, and wah! That Monday morning was the most tormenting time for my life!! I sat in that training room listening how we are to sell education and health policies to govt employees then earn 10% from that every month! Half way I just woke up and left.
Pretty unproffessional but Life has fucked me so hard I did not GAF! I needed to have money so bad so I decided I need to earn quick monies...this looking for commission is too much work! Fuck it!
I went to Makutano town in Meru, it is quite a vibrant town... I went from shop to shop asking for a "cleaning job" so guys were giving me those "are you kidding me" stares cos I was in an official dress and stilletos 😎and sounded pretty "polished"
Some girl felt sorry for me and gave me a mop to clean her cyber, and gave me 50 bob💀 I was so happy my guys! That girl has no idea what hope she instilled in me!!! She made me see kumbe this is doable!
Next to her shop there was this guy (Kimathi) who kept looking at me wondering WTF???! So he came over and asked me why I have decided that that is the way to go.😭 I told him my story and he took my number, told me he will tell his Biashara friends then he will call me.
So I went back to the house feeling hopeful. That was the 9th of October 2018. 10th asubuhi, Kim calls me, says there's a couple of ladies who want me to clean their shops! Wuuui!! I showered, rocked a long black dress and left. When they saw me they were a bit hesitant...
So one of the ladies (Ruth) introduced herself, told me they've heard of a "graduate who is cleaning" and asked me to clean for her... That day I cleaned 4 shops each paid 100 bob. Guys😭😭😭 400 fuckin bob by 11 a.m.! I was elated!!!!
She then asked me if I can do home cleaning, I told her yes! Now, I am pretty deliberate about my bathroom, sink and toilets, I scrub that shid like nobody's business, I also arrange stuff quite well and give life to rooms, and when she let me clean her house, I bought my A game.
Girl was so amazed she paid me 1500!😭😭😭 ya an I after months of having nothing, I am making 1900 in a day??? Damn!!! She introduced me to her friends, and within a week my guys, I was booked back to back! It was really hard work but I did it with my all.
By November I was making around 7k a week, customers became too many I had to hire help and train some mamas to clean like I do... And a company was born😭😭😭 I registered and couldn't believe how fast stuff was moving!!!
So in cleaning, I met awesome clients who felt that job ain't for me, and one of them was a doctor who invited me to bid for a cleaning contract in a hospital here in Meru. I got it and life changed, just like that!
I became an employer, and 2019 saw me bag contracts back to back... All that cleaning laundry, scrubbing sinks and toilets paid back😭😭😭😭 and within such a short period😭😭😭
2019 was an awesome year, my company grew, we stopped doing laundry manually, bought machines, a vehicle, and started delivering laundry to clients when it is cleaned, Ironed, and packed in a branded bag!! 💪💪💪💪
I am happy I can impact someone's life by giving them a job, I am happy I can help baby Jayden with bills and help my family grow. The point here is, do not pity party for long!!! Out there hidden in the most humble hustle is the biggest opportunity of your life!
So when I see people start small It melts my heart because I know, their breakthrough is coming soon!
You who has lost a job, has graduated, has a gift/ talent, start with whatever you have, clean those clothes, Iron those suits, make those chapos, cook those mandazis, as long as you are trying I promise you, you will move to your next level.
Nothing will happen to you when you are home, sad, and complaining! It is all out there! Go get it!!!

End.
