According to former US national security adviser John Bolton, former UK foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt was 'delighted' to freeze Venezuelan gold - clearly suggesting the UK's political intentions & pressure from the US.
While the UK claims it doesn't recognise Maduro, it has no choice but to act as if it does, since Juan Guaidó exercises zero legitimate power.
