On a walk this morning, practicing some of my scripture memory &, as I say 2nd Timothy back to the Lord, 2 words jump out at me that I can’t recall pausing on before.

1:5- “your sincere faith that was alive 1st in your grandmother Lois & in your mother Eunice”

“faith...alive”
I love that faith is captured as this wonderful living thing in this verse. As I meditate on the Scriptures from day to day, searching for insight into this crucial global hour & how we Jesus-followers can effectively steward this trust & bring light in this present darkness,...
I come to the same conclusion over & over. We need to fervently relentlessly ask, as His 1st followers did, for Jesus to increase our faith. Gal 5:6 says what counts is faith expressing itself thru love. Picture the great physician writing that as a prescription for what ails us.
Anyway, this is poorly put together because I’m walking dogs in the woods, trying to keep from tripping over fallen branches & watching for snakes & dictating into my phone. But don’t miss that Timothy caught his lively faith from his grandmother & mother.
FAITH THAT WAS ALIVE.
We can be diligent students of the Scriptures (& we must be at this critical hour) yet, if we’re studious but faithless, we won’t please God. We will absolutely fail to steward this time well. Faithfulness takes faith. This trust is too big for us. It requires a revival of faith.
Maybe it is different for you but, so often, what most attracts me to people who are in Christ is faith that is alive. Faith that is active. Faith that loves. Faith that acts. Faith that follows through. Faith that sacrifices. Faith is the Word of God catching fire in our bones.
