In a little known appendix, the Benghazi committee reported on President Obama's daily intelligence briefing process. The committee interviewed CIA analysts and even Obama's regular daily briefer to find out what he knew on Sept. 12, 2012.

Now, lawmakers are asking for details about how Trump's White House handled a written PDB that mentioned the Russian bounty intelligence.

Republicans on the Benghazi committee who got similar answers from Obama included Jim Jordan and Mike Pompeo. politico.com/news/2020/07/0…
What could a similar inquiry produce? Some possibilities:

-Who was Trump's written PDB mentioning the bounties shared with besides the president?

-Was the briefing delivered in full that particular day?

-Did the briefer highlight the bounties for other WH officials?
The House GOP Benghazi report noted its review of Obama's briefers was "one of the few, if only, times in history outside scrutiny has ever been applied to the PDB process.”

Previously, George W. Bush had made his Aug. 6, 2001 briefing public.

Also worth noting: The Dems on the Benghazi Committee included Reps. SCHIFF and SMITH, both of whom attended the White House briefing on Russian bounties on Tuesday and will play a role investigating.

HOYER indicates that the White House briefing was not led by intel personnel.

He said officials described "different judgments as to the level of credibility." None agreed with Trump assessment of a "hoax" he said.
SCHIFF: "The right people to give the briefing really were not in the room."

He says intel agency heads should be there.
Schiff says House Intel Committee is asking for an in-person briefing form intel officials as well as underlying documents. On Putin:

"Many of us do not understand [Trump's] affinity for that autocratic ruler who wishes our nation ill."

BREAKING: Pelosi requests an all-House briefing on the intel that Russia paid Afghan militants to assassinate U.S. soldiers.

Congressional aides say that so far no briefings have been et up for the House Intel, Armed Services or Foreign Affairs Committees, days after the initial news stories broke.

Unclear if Gang of Eight was (or will be) briefed.

BREAKING: Judge Jackson orders Stone to report to prison on July 14 and modified his conditions of release to home confinement until then, noting the sharp increase in coronavirus cases in Florida.
This is a pretty sharp rebuke from the judge. Stone wanted a Sept. 3 report date, but Jackson — who noted his frequency of travel during sentencing in Feb. — is now restricting his movement until then
"This will address the defendant’s stated medical concerns during the current increase of reported cases in Florida, and Broward County in particular, and it will respect and protect the health of other inmates who share defendant’s anxiety." Jackson said.
