lets look back at the first half of 2020.

When I conceptualized vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com I wanted an way to look back at the year gone by and check what all happened. This is a tweet thread referencing my website.
PART 1 : WHO

vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/all/who/

In Jan, WHO warned that the new coronavirus in China could spread, but by early Feb, they seemed to think that outbreak could go away.
In just a few days, WHO sent out warnings that the world must prepare for the pandemic. Barely a month later, WHO declared the novel coronavirus as a global pandemic, with Europe as the new Epicenter.
In April, it became a political battlefield, with Trump saying he is halting the funding for the WHO, while China starts pumping in money. All the while, WHO had to contend with cyber-attacks.
In May, WHO suspended trials on HCQ as ineffective. India's Health Minister @drharshvardhan took charge as Executive Board Chairman.
June saw WHO change its advisory on masks after months of saying only people who were infected should wear the masks. Additionally, a spokesperson said that the asymptomatic spread seems to be rare - which they backtracked on next day.
PART 2: Terrorism
vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/Terrorism/

Despite most of the world being in lockdown, terrorist activities continued. From Kashmir to Kabul, the terrorists kept up their activities. June saw terrorists attack the Pakistani stock exchange.
PART 3: Wildlife
vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/Wildlife/

India announced plans to get the cheetah introduced back. However, not all was well with the bird population going down sharply. Similar situation with the death of giant trees all around the world. Silver lining - bees got a break
Deforestation continued unabated. Elephants saw a lot of unlove - from the killing of a pregnant elephant in India, to mass deaths in Botswana.
PART 4: Climate

Cyclones: vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/Climate/cyclon…

Large parts of India bore the brunt of two cyclones even as the country struggled with Coronavirus - Amphan and Nisarga
Earthquakes : vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/all/earthquake/

The earth seems to be rumbling quite a bit. Turkey had a major earthquake at the start of the year. India has had many minor earthquakes rock a few cities, particularly the capital Delhi.
Part 5 : SCIENCE

vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/Science/

Science discovered many new dinosaur species - from the size of allosaurus in Utah to hummingbird sized one in Myanmar. April gave us a pink Supermoon !
. @SpaceX continued their launching of multiple satellites. And then they went ahead and launched astronauts in their Dragon capsule (which has the smell of a new car) to dock with the ISS. UAE announces Mars Mission while China looks at building an orbital space station.
The quantum 5th state of matter is observed in space, and an astronomical site older than stonehenge is discovered. New Horizon spaceship has moved so far from earth, that the skies it sees are different from our own. @NASA released a 10year jaw-dropping time-lapse of the sun.
Aside : I must say that so far the timeline view that I set out to make has been working out extremely well ! I am getting a snapshot of the last few months better than any other news website !
There are many more interesting threads on the site. I encourage you to check them out. List a few in the next few tweets. I will not be going into detail here. Check the links !

India China on the brink of war

In May, China intruded into Indian territory. Indian soldiers were killed. Retaliations happened. As of today, bilateral talks are going on to diffuse the tension even as both sides build up infrastructure at the border.

I haven't gone into details of the progression of the Coronavirus here. The current thread has 780 articles linked on how it all started and where we are. You can read the entire log at :

vibhurishi.pythonanywhere.com/CoronaVirus/
I end this thread with the current situation of the Covd19. At more than 11Million infections and more than 1/2 Million dead. Stats are not very accurate, e.g. UK, Spain don't give recovered figures, so the total count is much more.
END.

This was quite an experience looking back at the year in such great detail. Feel free to give me feedback.
