1/ Big news from Egypt.

After 100+ women came out via social media accusing a 22-year old man of having raped/sexually abused them, authorities just now arrested the suspect.

I spoke to one of the women accusing him of sexual assault.

In this thread her story.

@akhbar
2/ Let me 1st explain this:

Stories about the alleged rapist went viral after account @assaultpolice received testimonies about the suspect, whose initials are #ABZ.

Then more &more Egyptian women posted their horror stories about him.

Lili is one of them. Her story:

@akhbar
3/ "I was 18 yrs old when I was sexually assaulted by this guy," Lili tells me.

Lili isn't her real name. She explains: "I'm scared he will try to find and hurt me again. I want to speak out but please don't mention my name. I haven't even told my family anything."
4/ "Now I'm 20 yrs old. I'm a student in Cairo. Me and #ABZ (initials of the accused) first got in touch via Tinder. We didn't meet then but he had my number. Around 1.5 yrs ago he invited me via Whatsapp for a meeting in the community center in Uptown Cairo Compound."
5/ "I was hesitant to meet him but I thought there would be more people since it was in a community center, so at least we wouldn't be alone. He was very very pushy to get me to meet him. When I arrived in the community center, there was nobody, except for the guards."
6/ So Lili ends up alone with suspect #ABZ in the Uptown Cairo Compound.

In a post to @assaultpolice, Lili already described what happened to her when ABZ sexually assaulted her. Very horrible details. 👇
7/ If u read Lili's description of her terrible ordeal in above tweet, u can understand that the sexual assault majorly effected her.

What made it even worse is that #ABZ later claimed he made a video of the assault. Lili: "He said he would put it online if I spoke about it."
8/ Lily continues: "So I didn't go to the police, I didn't tell my family. I told one relative and he immediately blamed me. Implying the assault was my own fault. I was disgusted by myself, I was shivering, blaming myself."
9/ "A couple of days ago, I saw his face and name everywhere on social media," Lily tells me, "It turned out he had assaulted and raped many more women. So although I was scared, I contacted @assaultpolice and gave them my statement."
10/ Until now, over a 100 Egyptian women stated anonymously that they were assaulted/raped by #ABZ. Most victims want to stay anonymous out of fear and shame. Or distrust of authorities.

So far only one victim has contacted the general prosecutor office.
11/ So what will Lily do?, I asked her. She said she doesn't know yet. "I'm thinking of contacting a lawyer to get advice. I can't tell my parents. And I can't reveal my identity. At the other hand, this monster must pay a price. He cant just do a crime and walk like a free man."
