Another example of right-wing "cancel culture," that no one calls "cancel culture": At least 20 health officials around the country have been fired, or left their jobs under great pressure (including personal attacks and threats), because they're pro-masking and/or pro-lockdown. Image
In Ohio, a health official with the awesome superhero name Amy Action faced "armed protesters at her home bearing messages including anti-Semitic and sexist slurs. One Republican lawmaker linked Acton, who is Jewish, to Nazi Germany," until she switched her role to "advisory."
In Colorado, Emily Brown was fired after six years because angries on social media went after her.

Why haven't we heard about this as another "social media mob" pushing "cancel culture"? I believe it's because the people calling for Brown's head were right-wing. Image
Aren't these just rare outliers, and not a "culture"?

"Theresa Anselmo, executive director of the Colorado Association of Local Public Health Officials, said 80 percent of members had reported being threatened and more than that were at risk of termination or lost funding."
Where are the people complaining about Nichole Quick being cancelled in Orange County? Image
I'm opposed to what happened to David Shor. I'm opposed to what happened to Nichole Quick.

But the complaints about "cancel culture" are biased. It's a system that elevates, amplifies and reacts with horror to what happened to Shor, but ignores what happened to Quick.
"But Barry, we would have objected to what happened to Quick if we'd heard about it. We can't be expected to know about everything that happens."

Which things you do and don't hear about isn't random. It's based on the networks you plug into.
And those networks aren't chosen at random. You're choosing networks that say what you want to hear; that reflects your concerns.

And the networks the "cancel culture" opponents are plugged are incredibly biased.
The culture of complaints about "cancel culture" are, *regardless* of intention, in practice are attacks on the left, while protecting the right by giving its very similar acts a pass.
Do I believe in "cancel culture" - the idea that there's a unique attack on free speech coming almost entirely from the progressive left?

No, I don't. That's bullshit.

End of rant.
