2/ Like with big technology shifts such as web-to-mobile, rapid cultural shifts can provide a ledge on which to build iconic companies.

Startups are the most adaptable part of the economy, so the cultural shift to remote will benefit them more than large companies.
3/ We've spent the last century learning about the best ways to hire and work in an office. Now the clock has reset.

There’s an opportunity here. The current systems for hiring aren't that great. Now is a chance for us to improve how we hire overall.
4/ One advantage with remote hiring is access to volume. You can interview more people remotely than you could in person.

In theory, that means you'll have a greater chance to meet the perfect candidate.
5/ Doing interviews remotely also allows us to digitize and coordinate questions between interviews more easily. It's a good opportunity to overhaul old hiring processes and lessen redundancies and inconsistencies between interviews.
6/ Remote work may also change who we hire. Some people who might make poor in-office colleagues may be great remote workers, and vice versa. There are also biases that may not come into place remotely, which could help us make better hiring decisions.
7/ Keep in mind that remote hiring does call for a more rigorous vetting process. References are more critical if you're never going to meet the person you hire in person.
8/ A short list of qualities and characteristics to particularly look for in a remote job candidate would include speed, initiative, adaptability, and intrinsic motivation.

And of course, you should also figure out if they can help you attract more remote talent.
