Aside from how awful this is ... realize that as long as there are leaders like this in the world (small l) there is a huge Leadership void just waiting for you to fill it.

If you view leadership as a system that can be gamed, you might end up feeling superior because you figured out how to win the game. Unhappy of course, but "superior".

The thing that's been amazing to me over the past few years is that you give some leaders almost everything they could ever want ... fame, power, money ... and they are SO unhappy.

Four years ago I took an RV trip through small towns in Montana and North Dakota. So many people were unhappy. And you could easily explain why. No good jobs, industry left. It was easy to explain the unhappiness. A generation of community disinvestment.
But if you've had good fortune rain down on you ... your political party is in charge or you got VC funding or your podcast is listened to or you are an influencer or WHATEVER ... in those cases, where you technically "won" the battle, why are some of those people so unhappy?
If I were retired and had free time, I'd consider studying modern unhappiness.
