Great news for Aba, one of Nigeria’s most important manufacturing hubs:

“Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) has completed the final phase of its 20km domestic gas pipeline expansion project in Abia State, connecting Agbor Hill, Osisioma & Araria industrial zones.” shell.com.ng/media/2020-med…
“The project has also enabled the supply of pipeline gas to Ariaria Market Energy Solutions Limited, the Independent Power Project (IPP) consortium that provides electricity to the popular Ariaria market in Abia State.“
There’s a 9.5MW gas-fired plant built for Ariaria, under the Buhari Administration’s #EnergizingEconomies Initiative. With this new @Shell Pipeline, I’m guessing Gas supply is guaranteed. When I visited Jan 2019 they were regularly trucking Gas in from PH

JUST IN: @NigeriaGov has approved a Debt Forgiveness scheme (license fees) for all functioning, licensed Terrestrial Radio and Television stations in Nigeria, effective July 10: 60% debt forgiveness on outstanding debt, on condition that balance of 40% be paid within 3 months.
This is in addition to 2-month licence-fee waiver granted to all terrestrial broadcast stations in May 2020

Also, going fwd, 30% discount on license fees for all Open Terrestrial Radio & TV services, eff July 10, 2020

All part of @NigeriaGov’s Covid19 support for the industry.
According to the Minister of Information and Culture, who announced this today: “The debt forgiveness and discount shall not apply to pay TV service operators in Nigeria.”

BREAKING: The Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan (NESP) has today been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

It’s a 2.3 Trillion Naira stimulus plan to support the Nigerian economy in the face of the disruptions and challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Committee that prepared the NESP was set up by President @MBuhari, and chaired by Vice President @ProfOsinbajo. Made up of a number of Cabinet Ministers, and held extensive consultations with NASS, EAC, and State Governors.
Goals of the NESP:

- Create jobs
- Put money into the economy
hopefully stop it slipping into recession,
- Support small biz
- Prioritize local content (Made-in-Nig)

The NESP is a 12-month ‘Transit’ Plan between the ERGP & the ERGP-successor-plan currently being worked upon.

BREAKING: @hadisirika says the flight that took @officialnairam1 to Abuja was approved for a different purpose, to convey a service Justice from Lagos to Abuja and back, on official assignment. (Judiciary considered essential services). Flight operator violated approval. (1)
(2) Operations of the flight company have been suspended indefinitely, will also be fined. Flight Captain will also be sanctioned for providing false information.

The Minister mentioned the company name, but I didn’t quite get it, so I won’t tweet until I confirm correct name.
3. Minister of Aviation, @hadisirika, speaking on the flight that illegally conveyed Naira Marley to Abuja from Lagos:

“Going forward we willl escalate the mechanisms we have in place, and we will be stricter in our approvals (and enforcement).”
