I've often been asked why Gandalf has a hat, as he is now Gandalf the White. Well, time to go back and read the story a little more carefully... a hat he does indeed have.
On the other hand, I really don't care for the depiction of Minas Tirith.

The lane leading back [...] in the left, symbolic of the troubles and cares pursuing Gandalf, heralding the evil stirring far beyond the horizon of the Shire. I wasn't thinking that when I was doing the picture, but it sure sounds intelligent in the commentary, doesn't it?
Whatever was I thinking when I painted this picture? It really bears little ressemblance to Minas Tirith as described in the Return of the King. There are concentric walls, but the rest is a pretty... let's say liberal... interpretation.
This painting was "purchased" by the scan company who managed to tear it in half on a scanning drum. I wonder how you do that? Always pleasant to know that artwork is cared for by the professionals that manipulate it.
That Ent, by the way, is somewhat of a self-portrait. (It's how I look without my glasses, especially when my contacts are giving me trouble...)
