Let me share a collection (?) of thoughts and experiences before and during my 2 months in kdrama twitter, esp being in the Hospital Playlist fandom which was the reason I made this account.

[a thread]
I am part of a minority that has unpopular views in this drama that I truly love. But, it doesn't mean I don't genuinely appreciate it. Heck, why would I even be obssessed about it in the first place?
In the past, I just casually watch kdramas, binge on anything to my liking, without really giving much thought to it. My opinions were mostly kept to myself, apart from the times I watch dramas on Netflix with my family. I thought I wouldn't need an outlet for it.
I'm grateful that during the time Hospital Playlist was airing, I had a friend irl that loved it as much as I do but, we started having different views, especially the ships, but we still fangirl on HP inspite of it. So,I looked everywhere to find people who have the same views.
I didn't even see any "shipwars" going on before. After a while, I found a small community in a blog that's owned by someone who has been reviewing kdramas for a long time by tackling not just what we see, but how the creators see it, and the little details that we may miss.
It widened my views in dissecting a kdrama, not just in HP. I was amazed and I learned a lot. Focusing on HP, a very heartwarming drama, tackles social issues but dealing with them in a way that doesn't drag out, as this isn't a melodrama.
Hospital Playlist is a slice of life: a drama that deals with real issues like death, scams, divorce, cheating, bribery, toxic masculinity, and the like, in an almost light-hearted way, as Shin PD wanted to portay.
After discovering the blog, I started reading comments of how the view of this minority was mistreated in other platforms. That blog became a safe haven for a minority: views weren't discounted and frustrations were poured out from being opressed in other sites.
Could you imagine having to keep your opinions to yourself or that blog because one is too afraid that the majority discounts what you think to the point of harassment and bashing? It really mirrors real life.
The owner of bitchesoverdramas has time and again warned people not to screenshot from her blog and post it elsewhere or even visit it if you can't handle the criticism there. Those who did, was the clout brought by demeaning a blog's views worth it? Did it validate you?
The only good thing out of the clout you desperately needed is more publicity for bitchesoverdramas. Any publicity is still good publicity. Thank you for making the blog popular, I hope the owner monetized all the traffic she got from all of the haters who keep on checking it.
I was finally active in kdrama twt esp HP fandom. I engage in objective discussions and share my unpopular opinions. What do I & other people like me get in return?
"You don't know x character"
"Character assassination! "
"Are we even watching the same drama?"
"You just hate x"
The most profound one I saw was that someone even labeled us FlowerGarden which is a MINORITY, after a group of people who idolize a tyrant in the PH. I don't need to name names, nor screenshot anything to prove a point. (...)
With this in mind, whose actions reflect more on the ㄷ`ㄷ`ㅅ way? Let's break it down:

- represents majority
- your view is wrong, ours is right
- doesn't respect others opinion
- personally attacks instead of tackling the issue at hand (...)
It's an insult to be called that way esp. right now. I can't even label someone like that publicly without knowing a person's stance. And some label fellow HP stans as ㄷㄷㅅ? Criticising a work or a character's actions is not mutually exclusive to disrespecting the creators.
I've said this before, everyone is delulu until the series finishes or not. We can ship whoever, fangirl a lot, clown ourselves, share theories and discussions, but never personally attack a fellow HP stan.We have our own flaws but don't let the close-mindedness drag on esp here.
I detest biases coming from self-declared fanpages. Impartiality should be the number one rule of managing a fanpage regardless of perspectives. A page may call out unruly behaviours but never "disown" a fan as if one has the right to do so. Please take to heart Shin PD's words.
Too much of anything becomes toxic. That goes for positivity. Don't label people who view certain actions and scenes as "negative nor toxic". Yes we are watching the same drama but, we don't view some scenes the same way. It's called a difference in perspective. (...)
No one, i mean NO ONE, can change a storyline except the creators. The viewers don't have that kind of power. So please, avoid using that line.

Again,
different opinions/interpretation =/= changing a storyline
Despite the flak we get as a group, I'm still thankful that I have these people for support. Our # is small, but seeing how many react to our opinions so much to the point that some scour our profiles for "receipts", then we are really living in your minds, rent-free.
I'm linking Shin PD's recent press release indicating that everything is open for interpretation of the viewers. If you haven't read it yet or forgot about it, you may read it here:
