This piece by the WaPo editorial board in @PostOpinions is just plain embarrassing, written by people who have not updated their understanding of climate politics & policy since the early 2000s. Almost every sentence is cringe. washingtonpost.com/opinions/democ…
Seriously, it's like the one, single thing that WaPo editors know about climate policy is "carbon tax good, regulations bad." Even the most flat-footed, old-fashioned economists no longer think that! Just, like ... read something. Anything!
"If Republicans were engaged, they could push for market-based policies such as carbon taxes and against unneeded mandates and spending."

I laugh to keep from crying. Have WaPo editors seen GOP climate policy lately? Or any GOP policy? Have they been awake over the last decade?
This is a child's level of policy understanding.
If you would like to read about where left climate policy stands -- and why it necessarily involves much, much more than a price on carbon -- start here: vox.com/energy-and-env…
There's a class of VSPs in US politics whose sole interest in climate policy is finding a slogan/take that puts them in opposition to the dirty hippies w/out getting them associated w/ the denialists. "Carbon tax" & "nuclear" have both been drafted for that purpose.
And the GOP is working hard to make "innovation" play that same role.
