1. An update: You and I are born in the condition of sin, which is our separation from God (and other people) that causes us to always want our own ways and to commit specific sins. Our sin condition means we're born to die.
2. But God hasn't given up on us! God the Son came into our world. His name is Jesus. He led a sinless life, then offered Himself on the cross. Jesus has done everything needed to erase the power of sin and death over our lives.
3. Our call is to turn from sin (this is what the Bible calls repentance) and trust in Jesus. He's done everything for us already. He also sends the Holy Spirit to help us believe that this good news of new and eternal life through faith in Jesus is true.
4. We know that this good news (gospel) is true because after Jesus died for us, God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus blazes a trail for us so that, as we trust in Him, God will raise us too.
5. In the meantime, Jesus lives with those who believe in Him, helping them to love God and love their neighbor, to forgive and be forgiven, to share the good news that is transforming us from dead sinners to living saints.
6. Please share this message with others. I'm not asking you to retweet this. I'm asking you to share it with others. And explore it for yourself. Read, say, the Gospel of John, in the Bible's New Testament. Jot down questions you have. Then ask them of a Christian you know.
7. While you do, ask God to open your mind, heart, and will to what you read. I was an atheist who, over four decades ago, found myself open to finding out about Jesus because of the authentic faith I saw in the people of my wife's home church.
8. But be careful. God's Word about Jesus can change your life in unexpected ways. Four decades later, that Word is still changing me. I don't always want God's Word to change me. It isn't always easy. But it's always wonderful. Jesus is wonderful.
