the people are highly disillusioned by contemporary art, and they should be, but not because it's modern; art is a reflection of the world, a tool to understand it. the excesses of conceptual art had to exist to make sense of an alien world & you're better equipped that they did.
art IS castrated now, but it didnt happen in the 20s, it happened in the 90s. until then it was equipped to engage with the darkest borders of enroaching modernity, facilitate us with tools for comprehension. now its awash upon the normal man, the artist left long behind
anons reading this struggle to understand art's usefulness due to how far removed it's become from cultural life, from any avant garde, but consider the resonance certain pieces that have actually engaged with he dark reality you know have held, unspoken feelings captured. 
western artists were one of first consumed by culture war poz & around 2010s it was totally lost. they're completely banned from meaningful engagement with the wired, only meaningful current past disneyified urbanism swallowing the real whole; like any "censored" 3rd world artist
