Bush is as obviously compromised a figure as you get, and has no real power or policy influence - even inside his own family. But he's a feather in the cap for whoever claims to be running him in Beijing. There are subtler and more damaging forms of influence, too.
It would be interesting to know whether Bush is aware of what he's doing for the CCP, or whether he's so self-delusional that he believes his Chinese 'business partners' actually value him for his own merits.
