This year students are facing the prospect of returning to a degraded college experience while still paying full tuition. We at Elementl suggest an alternative: a well-paid, year-long fellowship where you work on an open source project, Dagster.
/ The model already works really well. Just look at Waterloo, one of the best engineering schools in the world. With this you can make your own Waterloo experience. You can work from anywhere and would be treated as a full-time employee with commensurate pay and benefits.
/ We're not encouraging people to drop out. We think of this like gap year of applied learning.
/ You can expect to learn software development best practices from a senior team with experience building widely adopted open source infrastructure tools
/ We’ll provide structured, empathetic, and constructive feedback over the course of your fellowship. We expend significant time and energy on mentorship because growth and learning are important reasons we get out of bed and go to work in the morning.
/ Our goal is to level you up quickly and prepare you to succeed in industry — with a substantial portfolio of public-domain work on a high-profile (🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻) project.
/ We are committed to building an inclusive team and an open source community where no one feels out of place.
/ Please reach out to us if you are interested. Apply on the site: (elementl.com/2020-2021-engi…), or email hello@elementl.com, and my DMs are open!
/ To learn more about what we are working on, check out our github github.com/dagster-io/dag… or the article that announced the project medium.com/dagster-io/int…
