All of this time I have been trying to explain to you all, a war with fascism is a war over reality. Fascism itself requires the obliteration of the truth. The erasure of the impacts of a plague that is devastating the country is the kind of thing only an authoritarian could do.
To unite in any defensive effort, ppl need to understand their relationship to each other, and their relationship to the threat. For that to expand beyond the easy and the obvious, we rely on the broader strokes of our shared reality. Fascism seeks to gut out that shared reality.
Our COVID-19 death tolls were already a gross under count and we all know as much. Our access to so much info just went dark. This is a five alarm fire.
Our understanding of this disease is already fractured across communities and along political lines. IMO Trump is trying to seize what shared knowledge we do have & replace it with garbled, back to work, capitalist death march propaganda.
This is Trump's plan to stay in office btw. The obliteration of our shared understanding of what's happening to us.
Please listen to people who are explaining what this move means and the severity of the situation. This is no time to flatten the threats we face.
We have a wannabe authoritarian staring down an election he's afraid of losing, we have the 2nd wave of COVID-19 on the way & the wanna be authoritarian is demanding actions that will lead to hundreds of thousands more deaths, while attempting to obscure evidence of those deaths.
We need to get real about what this has the makings of and what this just plain is. We are talking about genocide and the erasure of mass death. We are talking about that here and now or at least we had better be.
