This is a uniquely 🇺🇸 formula for success. Trump uses it brilliantly to grow his brand and fortunes. So too Joe Rogan, who gets lots of engagement using controlled-stupidity. Those who avoid it, like blue-check types, tend to be less successful in 🇺🇸
This shouldn’t be confused with actual stupidity. Actual stupidity, like people who don’t wear masks during a pandemic, get wiped out and don’t survive to pass on their DNA.
There is also a gender element in play, as women tend to avoid ‘looking stupid’ and don’t use controlled-stupidity to further any ambition they might have.
Again, this is a uniquely 🇺🇸 cultural phenomenon and doesn’t work in other countries. In Europe, for example, all stupidity is treated equally and the practice of controlled-stupidity doesn’t exist.
It’s why in France, for example, Jerry Lewis is worshipped as a comedy God. His Nutty Professor character is the primal 🇺🇸 controlled-stupidity archetype that becomes succcessful. This would never happen in France, or anywhere in Europe.
A more recent example, the character of Forrest Gump is a heroic icon of controlled-stupidity around whom a cult has developed.
