🚨EDUCATION THREAD🚨

Education, in my opinion, is one of the greatest issues plaguing the United States and it's children. There should be no reason the USA is the middle of the pack in advanced math and sciences. As a country, it is of vital importance that we do better.

It was not always this way. There was a time where we as a nation held the top spots in those categories. In the 1960's and 70's, we had the most educated young people in history. We accomplished great things, we put men on the moon. We stopped pushing the boundaries...

But I believe soon we will have an opportunity to become what we once were. To once again be a leader and superpower in the world of academia.

public school system now. They are ill-prepared for adult life in the 21st Century. I know from firsthand experience. As a graduate of the class of 2017, my exit from our public school system was recent.

So how do we fix this?

As we as Americans, and humans in general, turn to the future... I believe a reconstruction of our public school curriculum seriously required.

A change in our subjects, as well as our material to better prepare our kids for the future.

The subjects that I believe should be taught from years K-12 includes:

Math
Science
HISTORY
English
Philosophy [Politics]
Economics: [Finances]
Law and Government
Art

These subjects would best prepare our children and create free and critical thinkers whilst also providing essential life skills.

There are some that are familiar (Math/ Science/ English), for these, I only wish we again push the boundaries and push our kids to excel...

Some are new, such as Philosophy and Law/Government. If we look to past civilizations, those who have the most success, succeed in these areas. If we make it mandatory for children to learn these subjects, the opportunities are truly endless.

A side note on Government; no child should exit public school without understanding the Constitution and its contents to it's entirety. I attribute much of what is happening within civil unrest to this lack of understanding of our country's most basic ideals.

As for History, I do believe this is perhaps our most important subject. "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Within History, our focus should be on "why" instead of "what." The analysis of "why" allows for a complete understanding of our past...

and with that understanding, be applied to better evaluate the present and change for the future. Our public school system does not value this and it's beginning to show, ie. rise in MARXISM. Not understanding where those ideas come from and the society's failures of which...

applied those ideas allows for those same ideas to flourish right now.

Our founding fathers valued ancient history a lot. A lot of our country's political values came from Ancient Greece, in the days of Sparta (Republic) and Athens (Democracy).

If you are a fan of history, I would suggest researching the Peloponnesian War (431-404 BCE). Eerily similar to what is happening today with the "democratic" polis of Athens becoming more and more of what it seeked to destroy [Imperialism/One Man Rule].Think of the D party today.

Again, the "why" is important. So, in conclusion, if we are to turn to the future and create an ideal society for all walks of life, we must begin to reform our public school system. Education is critical to the success of a population and that is never more relevant than today.
