@TestyBillLong There's a lot to unpack there. First, sales/marketing needs to collaborate, not "insist". They are peers to the Engineering Dept., not bosses. If they want a place at the table, the must work closely with both Product Management and Engineering, 1/4
not be whinny little children. Engineering owns the schedule and the scope. Period. Sales/marketing can put stories into the backlog (in collaboration with Product) in the normal way. These are then sorted by value. 2/4
However, they must be real stories that come from real users, not made up nice-to-have fantasies. Frankly, this is classic example of a waterfall organization not taking Agile seriously. The entire organization is agile, not one department. 3/4
Sales cannot continue in its dysfunction. The fact that they can indicates a serious lack of leadership. If that can't be fixed, the organization cannot successfully evolve. 4/4
