Conservatives need to realize that waging whatever the highest-profile cultural battle is each week isn’t getting us anywhere. Goya, Nike, statues, Mark Cuban, Kaepernick—none of that moves the needle on conservative policy goals. If it’s all we do, we achieve nothing that lasts.
Seriously, I would readily have every NFL football player who wants to kneel during the national anthem go ahead and take a knee if it meant that the entire conservative movement focused on and passed comprehensive healthcare reform or reduced the deficit instead.
