There are some poorly worded questions in that Politico poll about cancel culture, a term I try to avoid.

But the overall message is clear: While a sizable chunk of America does not have a strong opinion on the subject, a clear majority of those that do think it's gone too far.
What's especially striking is how consistent the concern that "cancel culture" has gone too far is across virtually every demographic group.

It isn't popular among the young or old, liberals or conservatives, those with a high school diplomas or those with graduate degrees.
Another interesting poll:

Most Americans are afraid to share their political beliefs online.

Those with very liberal views are the only group in which a majority isn't afraid to do so. But even in this group, the number who's afraid has rapidly grown since 2017.
