Reproductive justice is about far more than abortion. For one, control of one's body means control of one's life. It means the difference between life and death in some cases, security or poverty, and of course, it means women having agency, being captains of their souls.
It is also more than the issue of abortion. It's also about birth control, sexual health, and fertility. The right not to have a child or to have a child. It's about birth control and IVF, about prenatal and well-baby health care. It's about agency. It's about maternal mortality
and very much about the disparities in maternal mortality for Black and Brown women.
Here is something short from the incomparable Loretta Ross - no paywall.

Here is something a little longer about Reproductive Justice

And here's a whole damn book

When I was in college, I was vaguely pro-choice but while going to work one morning I witnessed a 14-year-old Black girl kill herself by jumping off a parking garage. I was so close, her blood and matter got on my clothes. She had gone to one of those pregnancy crisis clinics.
It changed me. I am no single-issue voter because Reproductive Justice is not a single-issue. Right-winger paying Black women to insert Norplant is a reproductive justice issue. LGBTQIA families wanting children is a RJ issue. Infertility is an RJ issue. Child care is an RJ issue
I have so much animosity for the forced-birthers. I can't even call them anti-choice, they are more than that. But, I am glad John Kasich is going to advocate for Biden at the Democratic Convention, though I probably won't listen. So why?
Well, he's not there to speak to me or to any Democrat. He is there for the people who ARE single-issue voters who might vote for Biden if not for the abortion issue. He's giving him permission just this once to vote for democracy - and fight Biden after the election
Conventions are not really for us anymore. Not since they became entertainment television. So since they are broadcast to introduce the candidate and the party to the voters - not just the Democrats, having an asshole give permission to vote for Biden is useful
I have no illusion that come January when Biden takes office, Kasich will be a thorn in the sides of all Democrats. He will be the enemy again. So that's fine. This is not just about winning this election, it's about saving democracy. All hands on deck.
