The mother became an activist, and mother and child have been frequently highlighted in ACLU campaigns.
We are supposed to believe that to be transgender is to be marginalized & under-resourced. Yet the most-watched digital outlet in the US has released a series featuring a young child who was thrust into the public eye by powerful media and legal institutions from a young age.
This child might have been allowed to pursue those forbidden "effeminate" interests, possible growing up to be a gay man. But now Kai is a rising child star, whose "identity" is concretized and monetized to the ultimate benefit of --who exactly?
This ACLU clip conveniently leaves out what happened before Kai proclaimed at 3.5 years old "I'm a girl, mommy. You know I'm a girl." The interviews mom gave to magazines (excerpted in above tweets) reveal a more complicated story.
Developmental psychology has been thrown out the window. The responsibility for this falls to affirmative gender specialists, who seem to think it's no big deal to set a young child on a one-way road to drastic hormonal and surgical interventions.
Why does no one in authority talk about this? A child who perceives disapproval due to their toy, hair, or clothing preferences is going to draw childish conclusions. What's different now is therapists and doctors are also drawing childish conclusions.
These videos about the development of gender constancy make it very clear that young children (and Kai was very young when the mother declared to the world Kai was transgender) confuse gender norms for material reality.
Watch this old interview with @profjmb about twin brothers, one of whom grew up to be gay. The twins are also interviewed). Imagine this occurring today: Greg would have been identified as "trans" due to his more "effeminate" interests as a child.
