Tejas Express - India's First Private Train is a Sham!!

This is going to be a long thread so read it with utmost patience and try to grab how things are getting worse within a short span of it's much fan fared launch.

The Tejas Express hit the tracks 4 October 2019 as India’s first private train. 
While the infrastructure of the train, coaches etc, are owned by the IR, services like catering and cleaning are handled by firms through the railways’ subsidiary company IRCTC under the PPP model.

With its uniformed staff, promise of shorter travel time than the Shatabdi, and compensation for delays, the train spurred much excitement among passengers. They even fleeted pics like these to lure the passengers 👇

But the promise has allegedly not aged well for the crew members, some of whom were made to work even while sick. Blisters on the feet after a gruelling shift, said one, didn’t get him sick leave and he was fired instead.

Another claimed that passengers were being served substandard food and unfiltered water. From staff to food and water, all services aboard the Tejas Express are handled by Brandavan Food Products, a controversial Delhi-based company.

Attendants were hired on 'Contract Basis' and they were forced to work 17-18 hours a day that too without having any break. When they tried to raise the issue with IRCTC, they were told that it is only because of initial workload due to new launch.

However, Several media reports exists where it has been mentioned that staff people after falling ill, after getting blisters on their feet, were fired instantly when they tried to raise their voice against work pressure.

They were made to work from as early as 5 AM to as late as 10 PM. Below you can see the image of the staffs that has been fired without even getting a month's notice as promised in their offer letter.

Launched with much fanfare and touted as India's First Private Train, Tejas Express is nothing but a real scam.

Let me give you something to ponder and decide for your yourself. If you are traveling from New Delhi to Kanpur, following will be the time taken by various trains:

Distance is 440 kms. Fastest trains are :

NDLS-Kanpur Shatabdi - 4.50 Hours
NDLS-Lucknow Tejas - 5.00 Hours
NDLS-Lucknow Shatabdi - 5.08 Hours
All Rajdhanis- 5 hours flat!

Now for the same distance and same time taken customers were made to pay 20% extra fare than Shatabdis..

Tejas Express boast of Automatic Closing Doors, Offers you Multi Cuisine Food, Female Crew Members, Compensation on late arrival (which is being stopped lately citing maintenance issues of tracks and regular delayed arrival).

People need to understand that private entities aren't always the best, heck not even the public ones.

But they need to understand that some key infras are meant to be handled by 'Public Sector' because it affects the masses. Today it is Railway, BPCL & Air India...

Tomorrow it will be Insurance Companies, Banking Sector, Electricity, Water Supply, Bus Services, Metro Services.

Private entities are not answerable to anyone. You have to decide now, whom you gonna ask if these services fails post Privatisation!!
