The high test-retest reliability is established in adults, it's not necessarily so reliable in younger people. And since you have a selection that is associated...
@polygenicity @UDepravity ...with having lower IQ in the first place, at young ages, you're selecting for lower "real IQ" and "hidden IQ". "Hidden IQ" just being the unreliability of the test. So if you cared enough, you'd look into the reliability of IQ tests at younger ages.
@polygenicity @UDepravity If that reliability is high, then the environmental causation of this is well-established. If it's low, then the environmental causation would be tempered or might even go away completely.
