Looking for some context to explain how Barr became the most corrupt Attorney General in history?

He explained it all in a speech at Notre Dame last year.

TL;DR - He’s a religious zealot who no longer believes in the law he’s charged w/ enforcing.

justice.gov/opa/speech/att…
He argues that democracy and free government is only suitable for “a religious people” and that view was shared by the Framers
Yet, he believes religion has been “under attack” for 50 years with “grim” consequences
He believes “militant secularists” are to blame b/c they waged a “campaign to destroy traditional moral order” that created “immense suffering, wreckage, and misery”
In Barr’s view, it’s even worse than that...a society cannot heal without unifying religious beliefs.
If secularism is so terrible, why is it winning you ask?

Barr suggests 3 reasons:

1. Secularists & their allies control the media and are waging war on “religion and traditional values” & Cancel Culture for dissenters
2. We don’t punish Americans enough if they l have children out of wedlock, become addicted to drugs, or leave an abusive husband.
Finally and most dangerously, America’s chief law enforcement officer admits he doesn’t really believe in the law anymore. He thinks the law has become a weapon against religion and “traditional moral norms.”
Why has Barr so willingly corrupted his office and ignored his sworn commitments as AG? He makes it crystal clear in his Notre Dame speech.

Barr is a religious zealot who no longer believes in American democracy or the law.

Addendum: @RepRaskin asked #BillBarr about his efforts to undermine bans on large gatherings and mask requirements during the pandemic, particularly as they apply to churches.

In the speech, Barr explained he doesn't believe in "collective action to address social problems"
