Alright, time to start threading the #AntitrustHearing

Jim Jordan is going hard against Google in his opening statement

Let's see if he backs this up with action, given that they are one of his top donors
What's missing from Jordan's opening is any discussion of the antitrust issues at play

Google's censorship of conservatives wouldn't be so much of a problem if they didn't have a monopoly on search

#AntitrustHearing
And we're still going to need to hear an explanation from @Jim_Jordan about how this lobbyist-written memo became the Republican playbook for the hearing

Jim Jordan is now complaining that he doesn't get to participate in the hearing (because it's a subcommittee)

Under different circumstances I might be sympathetic

But given this memo, I'm uninterested in hearing from him today

#AntitrustHearing
Jeff Bezos is making a move that many of the CEOs will make - framing their relevant market as much larger than it actually is

I.e. "Amazon is only 1% of global retail, 4% of US retail"

Good to know - what percentage of ONLINE retail are you?

#AntitrustHearing
When you hear about Jeff Bezos talk about "making the right decision," remember that his company unilaterally deplatformed one of the most popular documentaries on its video platform

@Cernovich's HOAXED

breitbart.com/tech/2020/04/1…
This is an excellent description of the framing technique that Jeff Bezos was using

Pichai talks about employing more than 75,000 people in the United States

I wonder how many of them are conservatives?

#AntitrustHearing
And remember that there's a dark side to the widespread use of GSuite products, as @rachelbovard reminds us

Jim Jordan is already promoting himself as fighting Big Tech

He needs to give an explanation for why his office put out a memo for this hearing that might as well have been written by Google's lobbyists

Now Nadler is going after Facebook's acquisition of Instagram as anti-competitive and monopolistic

Seems pretty accurate to me!

#AntitrustHearing
It's amazing how foolish the Tech CEOs have been in their decision to alienate and censor conservatives

Democrats were always antitrust hawks and were always going to be antitrust hawks

By spitting on conservatives for years, they've alienated their only friends
Now @RepKenBuck is going after Google for dropping out of a US Military project in 2018

I bet he's about to point out that Google hasn't stopped working with Chinese companies (and therefore the CCP)
Yup - and @RepKenBuck isn't stopping there

Going after China for its treatment of the Uyghurs, Hong Kong, and its failure to warn the world about COVID-19
"These values that allow Google to work with the Chinese Military but not the US military" explain why Google is willing to steal other companies' tech, according to @RepKenBuck
Now Hank Johnson (of "reclaiming my time" fame from yesterday) is asking decent questions about Apple's power over the App Store

Twilight Zone, the Democrats are asking good questions for once

#AntitrustHearing
Now @RepMattGaetz is now asking about Project Maven - and how Googlers are pushing the company to abandon American law enforcement

He asks Pichai to pledge not to work against law enforcement

And Pichai won't

#AntitrustHearing
Gaetz and Buck are echoing many of the concerns noted by Peter Thiel at the 2019 National Conservatism conference run by @yhazony

Great video here if you haven't watched it

#AntitrustHearing

Jamie Raskin is the first ridiculous Democrat, encouraging Facebook to censor the right more with various boogeymen

So I'm just going to bring back this clip from yesterday of Raskin getting destroyed by Bill Barr

#AntitrustHearing

I'm back

Jordan now asking Pichai about bias

Seems like the obvious question to ask is why Breitbart has been so dramatically downranked

breitbart.com/clips/2020/07/…
Honestly Jordan is being obnoxious

He had five minutes to actually *press* Pichai on their *current and ongoing* censorship of conservatives, and he let him off the hook

And now he's just interrupting the hearing

@Cernovich was right

#AntitrustHearing
Listening to this hearing, I see very little disagreement between the Democrats and the populist right on how to deal with these companies

There should be a bipartisan consensus to bring these monopolists to heel!
