At a time when so many Americans are hurting, we need leaders who have the courage to fight for big solutions.

Today I'm excited to expand the reach of People First Future with the endorsement of six excellent and inspiring candidates. Take a look!
As a Newton City Council member, a former DA, and mother of two, @BeckyWGrossman will bring a critical perspective on hardworking families to Congress. I’m proud to support her because she'll fight for a progressive agenda that ensures a better future for our next generation. Image
During his time as an attorney at HUD, I saw firsthand @ColinAllredTX's dedication to expanding opportunity for all, especially the most vulnerable Americans. In Congress, he has continued to support and deliver results for Texas families. I’m proud to support him for reelection. Image
The working people of central Texas need a champion in Washington who will help them get ahead. As an engineer and entrepreneur, @donnaimamTX understands the challenges we face and will fight for the big solutions we need to tackle them. Image
For 20 years, @SiegelForTexas has worked as an educator and civil rights lawyer, helping to shape the minds of the next generation and give a voice to the voiceless under the law. In Congress he'll continue to expand opportunities and will put the interests of people first. Image
.@TeresaForNM is a dedicated public servant who understands how the actions of Washington impact New Mexico families. In Congress, she’ll fight to protect New Mexico’s land and environment, bolster public education, and create an economy that works for all families. Image
.@QasimRashid is the kind of bold, compassionate leader we need in Congress who will fight for working families and the most vulnerable Americans. From expanding health care and broadband access to tackling climate change, Qasim will deliver results for the people of Virginia. Image

Joe Biden’s age is a unique political liability that isn’t going away.

It’s not going to get any better—and has a high risk of scrambling the race again, sealing Dems fate.

Burying our heads in the sand won’t assuage voters concerns, which have been painfully obvious for years.
Voters have consistently expressed concerns about his age.

Even before the debate, 3 in 4 registered voters—and 55% of his own 2020 voters—thought he was too old to be effective.

Biden’s debate was among the worst in history. But it was far from the start of this issue.
Beating Trump is the only thing that matters.

Yes, Joe Biden has been a good president.

But he’s losing, badly. He was losing badly before the debate. He’s losing worse now.

Is it possible he still wins? Of course. But the risk he presents is far greater than the alternative.

Joe Manchin’s retirement almost certainly means Democrats will lose the WV Senate seat. You know where they can pick one up this time? In Texas by defeating Ted Cruz next November. Best pickup opportunity on the map this cycle.
For those who roll their eyes at the idea that Texas is winnable… it’s been moving strongly toward Dems in the Trump era. Obama 2012 lost by 16, Hillary by 9, Biden by 5.5. Beto 2018 lost to Cruz by 3 and Dems picked up 2 seats in Congress, 2 in state sen and 12 in state house.
In 2020, Dems & GOP battled to a draw in state legislature & Beto 2022 performed better against Greg Abbot in a much tougher climate for Dems than Lupe Valdez had in 2018 in a great Dem cycle. Plus, GOP picked up just 1 state house seat even after freshly gerrymandering for 2022.

A note about Texas after Tuesday’s results.

@BetoORourke deserves a lot of gratitude for inspiring and activating Democrats across the state. He has now twice planted the seeds of future victory.
Eight years ago, Abbott won by 20 points.

In 2018, when Democrats had the wind at our back, Abbott won by 13 points.

This time it was 11 points. So, as much as Tuesday’s results don’t feel like progress, they are—slow progress in what was supposed to be a terrible year.
Another way to think about it is this: in a great year for Democrats (2018) Abbott won by 2.5 points more than he did in what was a tough environment for Democrats in 2022.

Why? Because Trump and Trumpism have driven Texans decidedly toward Democrats.

The White House has defended their use of the Trump-era Title 42 policy on the basis of protecting public health.

But as many have pointed out, public health experts have repeatedly spoken out against the policy—calling it inhumane, nonsensical, and politically-motivated.
When Stephen Miller proposed using Title 42 to suspend our asylum system, the CDC strongly pushed back.

Vice President Pence himself had to intervene to pressure the CDC to implement it. Some staff resigned over it. apnews.com/article/4ef0c6…
Public health experts at Doctors of the World have said Title 42 “makes no sense from a public health perspective.” Image

So far, the Biden admin’s record on refugees and asylum seekers is very disappointing.

Biden is not Trump—and is, in fact, working to undo Trump’s damage.

But that’s not enough. We need proactive leadership, beginning with Afghan refugees and asylum seekers at the border.
The Biden admin has resettled 6,246 refugees this year, the fewest since the program's creation in 1980.

Much of that lands at Trump's feet. However, it was only after intense pressure that Biden raised the refugee cap and sped up admissions—an early campaign promise of his.
At the border, the Biden admin has disappointingly continued Trump's policy of turning away many asylum seekers under Title 42, a policy dubiously put in place under the guise of Covid spread.

History will not look kindly on our nation suspending asylum for more than 16 months.

The Census data being released today may well be flawed, and not an accurate picture of the racial makeup of our country.

We won’t know for sure until 2022, when over- and under-count data are released. But here’s why experts say the data may be distorted:
First, Trump played games with the Census from the start.

He unsuccessfully tried to add a citizenship question and exclude undocumented immigrants, an illegal move breaking 230 years of precedent.

Unfortunately, his push for it likely chilled participation regardless.
His admin undermined outreach efforts like door knocking, which are critical to counting low-income communities and people of color.

Under the guise of the pandemic, his administration directed the Bureau to end counting one month early, and cut short the time to process data.
